Why coffee machine chat made me think about why we do it ‘our way’

In Business, Business Development, Change, Personal

We need a new coffee machine in the office at the minute…our old one has seen better days (I’ve got a feeling this should be a subtle indication to cut down on the amount of caffeine we’re consuming!) and Cassie is currently on the hunt for a new one…

So as I enter the office she’s half talking to herself and half talking to the team in the office about the new machine she wants to buy…

“We could get a Lavazza, a DeLonghi or perhaps a Dolce Gusto?” she repeats questioning herself as she browses the options with me wondering whether all coffee machines should sound vaguely Italian…

“or we could get a Tassimo My Way ” she said..

“What?!” I say in a somewhat silly mood “A Tassimo My Way….if we’re going to have a Tassimo can I have one named after one of my other favourite Sinatra songs like a Tassimo Witchcraft or a Tassimo New York New York! I’d probably avoid a Tassimo “Something stupid”  through!”

I find myself giggling at my admittedly poor joke…

However a short conversation about a coffee machine got me thinking about Ol’ blue eyes and in particular the song ‘My Way’….particularly how it relates to the work we do here at Cervello…

You see we’re really proud as a business to be doing it ‘our way’…

…and whilst clients come and see us about their financial affairs we talk to them about much more. We talk to them about life. A life that’s full. A life where they’ve traveled each and every highway…

I think it’s human to have regrets (I’ve had a few)…but then again too few to mention…and certainly as a business we try to learn from our mistakes…

…and we like a challenge so every now and again we bite off a bit more than we can chew (especially in the early days of the business), but through it all when there was doubt, we persevered and learned a lot from the experience (I’m not sure I can frankly say… ‘we ate it up and spit it out!’)

However today we’re great at helping our clients plan a chartered course and using our technology to plan each careful step along the byway…so they can have a meaningful life. A life which is full of laughter…and as human life tends to be crying and our fair share of losing…

…and whilst we’ve still got a lot of work to do as a business we’re going to continue to be focused on doing it our way by focusing on one thing…

…ensuring we help out clients do it their way.
