The 4 solutions you might want to consider when self investing

Let’s be frank. Not everyone needs a financial planner.

If you’re early on in your wealth building journey and your saving and investing needs are relatively simple it may be the case that you should consider some of the do it yourself investing options out there.

This article is to highlight some of the self investing options you might want to consider. However before we start to talk about some of the options you might want to look at I need to be clear about one thing.

This article is not advice.

When I’m taking a client on, I’m spending a significant amount of time with a client, understanding their hopes, dreams and aspirations, doing loads of research and building a bespoke plan designed to help them achieve their financial goals. Effectively my advice is bespoke.

Clearly this article doesn’t do the same job!

All this article is designed to do is give you some options you should consider when thinking about self-investment, but it’ll be entirely your responsibility to do your own detailed research when thinking about taking action.

I’m also not being paid anything for producing this blog. This article is purely to help you understand some of the options available out there so you can be better informed.

So, with that clear disclaimer over, let’s explore some of the self-investment platforms you might want to consider…

AJ Bell

AJ Bell is easy to use, flexible and it’s easy to open an investment account with a large range of funds.

Out of many of the direct-to-consumer investment platforms out there, AJ Bell, in my opinion should always be factored in when thinking about investing directly.

Vanguard

Vanguard have been a Which recommended platform provider for the past 4 years and there are a number of reasons why.

It’s low cost, it’s owned by the biggest fund manager in the world, and it’s simple to use.

The downside is for you might be that it doesn’t provide a wide range of fund managers with only investments in Vanguard funds through the platform.

Fidelity personal investing

Another Which platform award winner, Fidelity is easy to use, with no exit fees and some preferential deals on some funds. Definitely one worth considering.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg is another award-winning platform and are winners of the Boring Money Best Buy ISA 2022.

It’s not the cheapest platform available but the technology is good, it has a socially responsible investment offering and is pretty easy to use.

Now, there are plenty of other good direct to consumer platforms available worth checking out but hopefully looking at these will help you select the right one for you.
