Richard House, Bad Dancing and Charity
Last night I attended an event run by the team at Richard House Children’s hospice. If you read this Blog regularly you may have read an entry I’ve written before about the fantastic work they do helping young people with life threatening conditions or complex healthcare needs. The evening involved a nice meal, an auction and some really bad dancing! But, more importantly, we collectively raised some money to support Richard house.
Supporting the young people and their families isn’t cheap and therefore the team at Richard House need to raise 3.1 million pounds a year to ensure that the hospice can continue to provide the invaluable support for the young people who really depend on this care. That’s why it’s incredibly important to ensure that if I can help (even if it’s in a tiny way), I will.
I’m thankful every day for the fact that Sophie and Charlotte (my two daughters) are happy and healthy. However I’m conscious that this could have been different and our family may have had to use the services of a children’s hospice. I also believe that because of the fact that Charlotte and Sophie are in good health, I have a duty to try to help support families who need our help.
So, what do you do to “give something back”? Do you think it’s important?
