Ware Festival of Running – the final instalment
Last Monday I was very happy to be invited to the final event in the 2019 Ware Festival of Running calendar. This was the final culmination of the years hard work and planning by the amazing fundraising committee and volunteers at Ware Joggers. The pounds & pennies had been counted up and it was time to present over-sized cheques to the charities that the event has chosen to support this year.

The amount raised this year was a record for the event – £10,000 – which is wonderful and it was great to hear from the charities who were understandably really pleased with the addition to their coffers.
The charities this year were The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, SPACE Hertfordshire & Guideposts Trust UK.
Now as if this wasn’t enough in true Ware Joggers fashion there was cake – Joggers are a group of cakes bakers/eater who run a bit!! As an elite athlete I obviously only ate a few pieces so as not to appear rude to my hosts.

I know that plans for 2020 will already be well under way and I’m sure it will be even more successful as the event goes from strength to strength. I have been very proud to be a sponsor and thoroughly enjoyed the race too – I’m sure I will be involved in some way next year too!
