The science of getting rich slowly
Modern culture moves quickly. Information is abundant, communication is never been easier and we can purchase anything at anytime and have it delivered to our doors in a matter of days, hours or (if you are purchasing it digitally) minutes. However whilst we live in a world which is so quick when it comes to building our wealth we shouldn’t look at a ‘get rich quick’ approach but instead try to master the science of ‘getting rich slowly’.
The science of ‘getting rich slowly’ as opposed ‘getting rich quick’ as you expect will take you longer. However the good news it that ‘getting rich slowly’ is also a lot simpler and lot less riskier than any speedy approach. All it takes is a change of habits.
You might have noticed that I didn’t say that ‘getting rich slowly’ wasn’t easier. I know from experience that changing your personal habits is something which is tough to do. However there are a number of simple steps you can take to improve your financial situation gradually and build your wealth over time.
Whilst I haven’t got time to explain all of the habits in this particular blog entry…I’m going to mention one which I consider particularly important :-
Aim for clarity
Clarity when managing your money is incredibly important. If you are clear about what you earn and spend it will provide you with the control to make changes to your life. If you fully understand the value of your current assets and liabilities it will provide you with a much needed starting point.
It’s also important to have total clarity not only in your current financial picture but what you are aiming to achieve. So take the time to ask yourself 3 clear questions:-
What are your driving forces?
What are your financial goals?
Based clear action do you need to take to achieve your financial goals?
By answering these questions you will be able to feel more comfortable with your finances, more confident in dealing with your money and utilising the science of “getting rich slowly” a greater chance of you achieving your financial goals
I’m in the process of writing a book at the moment so whilst I’m going to be talking about some of the other habits in this blog I’ll also save a few for the book. However I’ve got quite a way to go until the book is completed and will keep you informed as the project progresses.
In the meantime I’m interested in your ideas. What habits do you think contribute to individuals being able to ‘get rich slowly’? Do you disagree with me and think that ‘getting rich quick’ is a more appropriate route to wealth? As ever I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
