Christmas Goals and Black Lace’s ‘Agadoo’

My run up to Christmas has involved catching up with people I don’t seem to find the time to during the year, a couple of Christmas parties and trying to fully complete the ‘to do’ list before I leave for Scotland on the 21st December.  However one of the things I intend to do  during the break is set my ‘Christmas Goals’.

We’re spending this Christmas with Cassie’s family in Arbroath this year.  I’m looking forward to the break and the opportunity to spend some quality time with my family.

The break will also give me the opportunity to reflect on the past year and consider the future.  From both a personal and professional perspective I’ve really enjoyed this year.  I’ve learned loads, had the opportunity to work with some great people and made some fantastic strides forward both within the business and individually.

However the more I seem to develop as an individual, financial planner and business owner it seems that there is more that I hope, want and need to do!  So, as 2013 approaches and I  focus on the future…I’m interested in asking you a few questions:-

Firstly, what do you want 2013 hold for you?
Secondly, what plans have you put in place and what action are you taking to ensure it does go the way you want it to?
and thirdly….how do the plans you put in place and the subsequent action you’ll take help contribute to you achieving your longer term goals?

If you feel that you’d like to share your answers to the questions above I’d love to hear them.  However even if you don’t and whilst you’ve got a little more time to yourself over the Christmas period ask yourself these questions….and go one step further…write the answers down.

By writing the answers and setting your ‘Christmas Goals’ to these questions down it will provide more commitment to these goals and make you more likely to take action to get what you need to achieve done.

Thefore instead of the Christmas period just being about Christmas parties, bad dancing to cheesy songs (my personal favourite – Black Lace’s Agadoo…but keep that to yourself!) and overindulgence it’s also about focus, achievement and the journey to the life you deserve.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t indulge yourself a bit over Christmas….we all do!  But surely during that time there’s some value in keeping an eye on shaping your future to ensure that all your Christmases in the future will be happy, healthy and wealthy ones.

As ever I look forward to hearing your thoughts as well as the answer to your questions.  I’ll be writing a couple of blogs next week before the Christmas break but if you don’t have the chance to read them….let me take this chance to wish you a fantastic Christmas and a brilliant new year.
