Growing pains, Toddlers and an automatic enrolment anniversary.
I recently shared a very special birthday with you. You see in November AE in a box is officially 1 year old! (also we’re having a party which you’re invited to)
However there’s also another birthday which is worth mentioning…
You see last week Automatic Enrolment was three years old.
This time three years ago the largest employers in the UK had to start to comply with this new set of rules which included offering pensions for all, contributions for all and having to make fundamental changes to their systems as well as meeting all their regulatory responsibilities.
I don’t remember being 3. It was a long long while ago. However 3 going on 4 isn’t always an easy time in any of our lives.
How do I know? you ask…
My youngest daughter, Sophie, is currently three….going on twenty eight, er I mean, four!
Sophies lovely….She’s boisterous, confident and full of fun!
However looking back it’s not always been an easy ride. Like most toddlers Sophie has her fair share of tantrums, moods and ‘challenges’
In many ways Auto Enrolment is in the same place…
Whilst automatic enrolment has been in action for three years now we’re just entering the phase where the true ‘growing pains’ of auto enrolment begin.
Just like Sophie is in a position where what she’ll have to learn and develop more than ever before over the next couple of years including her first experience of ‘proper school’ automatic enrolment is faced with the challenge of ensuring that hundereds of thousand employers comply successfully.
Just like Sophie will find some of these new experiences challenging auto enrolment faces a fundemental challenge due to the scope and scale of the upcoming market.
and
Just like Sophie will use technology to help her learn, develop and grow (although to be fair like most toddlers nowadays she’s pretty good with technology already!) the success of automatic enrolment relies on technology to ensure that the avalanche of employers needing to comply over the next few years can be helped as efficiently as possible.
This technology which will help employers will come from payroll software providers, companies which help ‘translate’ data and automatic enrolment which help employers navigate through automatic enrolment step by step as well as providing useful tools designed to support…
Solutions like AE in a Box
I’m confident that Sophie will cope with the challenges of the next few years….as long as she gets the right support from Cassie and I.
I feel the same about automatic enrolment too.
With the right support employers will be able to navigate their automatic enrolment challenges too….
Our focus at AE in a Box is to help as many of the hundreds of thousands of employers having to comply over the next few years with the support they need just like my responsibility as a parent to support Sophie through the next few years. (although to be fair Cassie does a far better job than me in that regard!)
At AE in a Box we’re doing this by empowering employers, guiding them in the right direction and making sure we’re helping them with the right tools to do the job!
So here’s to challenge….
The challenges that Sophie faces as she moves from being a toddler to a little girl.
The challenges that automatic enrolment faces whilst it moves towards having to be adopted by an estimated 1.8 million employers across the UK.
and
The challenge we face at AE in a Box in helping as many of these employers as possible!
