How we help our clients see their financial future…and how we can help you too

I’m sitting in a room with a new business owner client of mine in his late 40’s.

We’d been chatting (and laughing) for about 10 minutes and then one question changed the mood of the meeting…

“What do you want to get out of today?” I asked

“I’m worried” He started “The older I get the more I think about it. Then the more I think about it the more it worries me…”

“What is it which worries you so much” I queried…

He paused, I took a deep breath and looked me squarely in the eye…

“If I’m going to have enough money to live the life I want in retirement?”

Since I started advising clients a number of years ago a number of things of changed.

The nature of retirement is changing.

People tend be working longer and living longer active lives which often includes charity work or volunteering, spending time with family or setting up businesses (often in our experience consultancy businesses) in later life.

However I’ve found that generally our clients concerns have remained pretty constant…

On the whole both our existing and new clients want to ensure they are financially able to live the life they want.

It’s why many of the conversations with our clients aren’t about pensions, or investments, or funds but talking about what’s truly important…

How money can be used to ensure they can live the life they desire.

We’ve got some very useful technological tools which take those conversations and help us and our clients understand whether the life they want in retirement is currently possible or we need to take some action in order to get closer to this goal.

This piece of software is called ‘cashflow’ but the reality is that what it’s called is less important than what it does…

“Paints a picture of what our clients are on track to achieve, how much progress they’ve made and what impact certain actions might have.”

We’ve used it in partnership with many many clients, including my business owner client I told you about earlier…

Could having an understanding of what your financial future looks like be of use to you?
