Money is an interesting thing…
It can be a massively empowering force allowing us to get closer to the lives we want to live. It allows us to spend more time doing the stuff we love more often, it has the ability to make us feel more secure and it can provide the freedom to spend time on work we believe is meaningful.
It can also be a massively debilitating force…especially if you haven’t got any!
For those of us who struggle financially, be it with debt or low incomes or no ’emergency fund’, money can be a more constant concern. An itch which is consistently a struggle to scratch. A permanent uphill struggle.
However money can also be a worry (and often a relatively severe one!) for people who would be considered by many as relatively wealthy but for an altogether different reason.
You see in our experience working with our clients money can absolutely be a concern for those with wealth. It’s not because they haven’t got any but because it’s not under their control.
There’s been plenty of times where we’ve helped clients with plenty of savings plans, pensions, investments and bank accounts who were worried about money. Often they come to us with a bucket load of paperwork and want help sorting things out.
However once we’ve worked with them to understand what they are looking to achieve, arranging their paperwork, getting up to date information, building a plan and then taking action. Our clients often tell us that having a clear plan and their financial affairs organised makes them feel much better.
There’s a simple reason for this. If you control and understand what you’ve got, either on your own or in partnership with a financial planner, you’ll gain two things…Clarity and Control.
In our experience money is far less worrying when you know what you’ve got (clarity) and know what your options are and feel empowered to take action (control) which means it can be used as a more positive force once again and actually knowing you’re just on track even if you might not have taken the time to realise it is a pretty liberating experience.
So, are you in a position where whilst you’ve got savings, investments and pensions but haven’t taken the time to ensure you’re clear on exactly what you’ve got and what the options which best suits you…
