Why it’s taken 18 months to properly drag myself around 26 miles and 385 yards!

I’ve been trying to run the London Marathon for nearly 18 months now.

You see, my original plan was to run around the streets of London, with family and friends supporting me on the route…on the 26th of April of 2020. I even managed to complete my longest training run (22 miles), in optimistic anticipation that the run would go ahead, on the day the original April date was cancelled!

We all know that, like many aspects of our lives, COVID put an end to my aspirations of running in early 2020. I did manage to run the virtual Marathon last October…effectively running the distance on my own, but it was nothing like the Marathon experience I expected!

Which is why I’m so pleased that in just under 1 months’ time I’m getting to do it again…and this time properly!

Marathon training, and putting the miles in to ensure you’re at the very least able to get round, is a time consuming exercise…However I’ve got one pretty clear reason ‘why’.

You see, I’ve been lucky during the past 18 months. Whilst the previous year and a half might have been frustrating at times, my family and I have been lucky enough to only suffer from the relatively minor negatives of a global pandemic.

After all, if your greatest worries, in the midst of people losing their lives and sometimes livelihoods, is frustration at not being able to go out as much and feeling of failure at not being able to home school then you’re lucky.

My big why for completing this run is to support people who aren’t so lucky. To help fundraise for an amazing cause…

Saint Francis Hospice.

You see Saint Francis supports people when times are particularly tough in their lives…when they have a life limiting health condition. Considering how lucky I am, and if you’re reading this you are…I wanted to do what I can to help.

So, I’m doing what I can. I’m supporting Saint Francis Hospice by putting on my trainers and running a pretty long way!

I’d like you to help if you can too…If you’d like to I’d like to ask for you to help the hospice by donating to my Marathon fund…raising money which goes directly to supporting individuals near the end of their lives to get the care they deserve.

I appreciate that there’s plenty of causes you can support…and absolutely understand if you’re not keen on donation…but if you can help I’d really appreciate it!

You can do this by clicking here…and thanks in advance for your generous donation…

…and if you’re watching on London Marathon day feel free to give me a wave or shout encouragement…I’ll take all the help I can get!
