Why I’m riding 103.2 miles on my bike in (hopefully) sunny May
As many of you are likely to already know, I have over the years, been guilty of setting myself a decent number of aspirational fitness challenges.
I ran the Paris Marathon in 2017, although my relatively slow pace did mean I got a call from Cassie which included the following conversation…
“Where are you again?”
“About 15 and a half miles around. Why do you ask?”
“We’re at Mile 18 and there’s a man with a giant Eiffel tower on his head. I wondered why he was faster than you.”
I also always wanted to do the London Marathon and committed to completing this in 2020. Then the Pandemic hit and I ended up doing a virtual Marathon at the end of the year where Cassie dropped me off at Chelsea Bridge and I ran east all the way home.
So, I’ve ran three marathons at this point, but for my next challenge I’m hitting the roads in a different way.
You see, at the end of May, I’ll be jumping on my bike and riding just over 100 miles (103.2 miles to be exact) around London and Essex as part of Ride London…and whilst it’s a challenge I relish, It’s going to mean a lot of training over the next couple of months!
I’m just hoping the suns shining when I’m doing it – as participating in the pouring of rain might be a bit much!
So, I’ve a favour to ask. I’m aiming to raise a decent chunk of money for an amazing cause. I’m supporting the amazing Saint Francis Hospice, which as many of you know , do amazing work supporting individuals with care when seriously ill and at the end of their lives.
I’ve seen the positive impact of the work they do and would love for you to help me help them by donating here:-
