Snoop Dog, Statistics and why starting soon is sensible.
The twentieth of October (the day I’m writing this particular article) isn’t a date which is particularly memorable.
It’s a date which when in comes to being memorable pales in comparison to, I dunno, Bonfire night (we all remember remember the 5th November!) or New years eve!
Now every day of the year if you look back long enough has had significant stuff happening…
For instance the 20th of October was when, in 1973 the Sydney opera house opened and the birthday of Snoop Dog (I don’t know about you but I consider using Wikipedia ‘research’ and not cheating!)
However the 20th of October is also known for something else…
It’s World Statistics Day!
Okay I’d admit….as legendary days go….it ain’t Christmas or Easter!
However as we quickly approach the time when tens of thousands each and every month need to comply with automatic enrolment I want to share with you some automatic enrolment statistics…
When it comes to auto enrolment statistics there’s plenty of large numbers…
An estimated 1.8 million employers need to comply with automatic enrolment
7 out of 10 businesses will ask a business adviser to help
however the one which was recently issued by the regulator was the following…
Over half of the small employers due to stage (the date employers need to comply with automatic enrolment) next year haven’t started planning yet!
With Hundreds of thousands of employers due to stage pretty soon this is a scary statistic.
However there’s one thing you can do to help stem the tide…
If you’re an employer start to prepare now.
and
If you’re a professional who works with employers start helping them now.
Now there’s a few ways employers (and the professionals they work with) can efficiently manage automatic enrolment…
The reality is that the most sensible move is to start to plan as soon as possible!
An employer might want to read and study the details of how to comply on the pension regulators website.
Alternatively they might want to read “three circles” – the book I’ve written and will be published soon (we’re having a launch event in London on the 19th November if you fancy coming along)
or….you might want to use AE in a Box.
If you need any help doing so feel free to let us know!
