Why we believe it’s important that if you’re an adviser you should be part of a ‘broad church’

I get to meet a decent number of financial planners and advisers and as a profession there’s one thing I’ve found…

We’re a pretty broad church.

All advisers are different in a bunch of different ways.

Some are more emotionally intelligent than other advisers might be more knowledgeable.

Some might like working with specific individuals in certain sectors (like for instance working specifically with medical professionals, or lawyers, or directors of businesses)

Whilst many of us have decent levels of depth of knowledge in all sectors many of us specific specialisms like estate planning, retirement planning or corporate advice.

I’ve been thinking about this recently for one specific reason…

At Cervello we’re currently building our advisory team.

Now when we meet advisors we look for certain qualities.

Among them (and these might be pretty obvious) are the passion to do a fantastic job, a desire to work with a great team of people and a positive, forward thinking future focused attitude.

However when it comes to building our team we’re looking for advisers with diverse skills, specialisms and personalities.

The reason?

We believe that businesses work better when like minded individuals with different skill sets work together.

We believe that everything works better when we share our collective expertise and bring different skill sets to the party.

We believe that financial advice businesses should be places where everyone feels rewarded and everyone feels they are contributing something special.

Do you agree? Are you a financial adviser or planner? It’s probably worth having a chat with us then…
