The Automatic Millionaire Book Review
This book is perfect for people who find reading tedious and boring! This is because the author personal experiences demonstrate how ordinary people can became an automatic millionaire by applying a simple strategy which doesn’t require much effort but a decisive mindset to just do it.
What I enjoyed about this book is how clear the author simplifies, and breaks downs the steps in such a personal and relatable way. Not only does the author use enjoyable narratives to explain concepts and process, he also uses thorough diagrams!
David uses a very simple strategy, which any ordinary individual on ordinary income can use to grow wealth! One of the rules he talks about is paying yourself first before anyone else (Government – Tax etc.) can touch your income. This is achieved by paying into a retirement plan or pension plan and that he calls it ‘Securing your future’. And another thing he keeps insisting that his readers do is to make it automatic!
With it being automatic, there isn’t any need to budget or being disciplined to make regular payment to yourself as everything done will be automated. Meaning the money would have already be paid for into the right account (retirement plan or Pension) before it reaches your paycheck.
Knowing and grasping this strategy has helped me understand how and why I should incorporate this strategy into my plans. As one of my objectives is to become financially free and have peace of mind in the short- and long-term course of life.
This book has also highlighted the importance of identifying where exactly all your money is going. It uses the example of the Latte Factor. How every unnecessary spending you do, you are stealing from yourself a wealthy future.
The example he uses is: Imagine going Starbucks every day, buying a coffee (£3.50) + maybe a muffin to go with it (£1.50) = £5.00 over the course of a weekday. That is £25 a week x4 = £100 a month.
Instead, if people were to put their money into a Pension or retirement plan instead, with an annual investment return of 7% for instance, they would miraculously benefit of compounding interest as money would grow overtime. And the thought to pay yourself every month would not come to pass as it will be automatically deducted before it reaches you!
David also taught me how important it is for financial planners to build good reports with their clients. As you never know who you may meet! The couple who taught him this strategy, we’re just ordinary people that applied that strategy in their lives, reap the benefits of it and was willing to share their knowledge.
Overall reading this book has been enjoyable and intriguing! The book has given me a positive insight into financial planner profession.
After reading this book I now feel optimistic and excited for future opportunities to come at Cervello Financial Planning as now, I can incorporate what I learnt into future.
This book is a MUST read to all of those who are thinking of becoming an automatic millionaire.
