Three Circles 2nd Edition!

To celebrate the release of the 2nd edition of my book designed to help small businesses comply with automatic enrolment I want to tell you a little story…

I released the first edition of this book on the 19th November 2015.

The event went well and book sales were going well (or as well as could be expected for a book on pensions!) and then something happened…

On the 25th of November George Osborne stood up and during his autumn statement made an announcement which changed automatic enrolment. This change meant that 2 pages of my newly published book (the book I only released a week before) where the dates were incorrect!

We managed to change the text so that any future books sold (and any e-copies of the book) were correct…however the fact that I had a bucketload of freshly printed books where on 2 pages the dates were wrong.

Now whilst the chancellor at the time didn’t make the decision to spite me (although the thought of him saying “Let’s wait until Chris Daems publishes his book…and then we’ll change this part of the rules” does make me chuckle!) it was slightly frustrating (although not as annoyed as Cassie who I think called Mr Osborne an uncomplimentary name at the time!) it did illustrate a point we made in the book…

The nature of automatic enrolment regulation is changing.

The market is changing…

The law is changing…

and

How we managed and deal with automatic enrolment more efficiently is changing…

This is the reason that to reflect the changes which have occurred in the past year and bit we’ve just released the 2nd edition of “Three Circles”. This version has been rewritten not only to reflect the aforementioned changes in regulation but also details how the market has changed and how small businesses are coping with these new obligations.

When I first decided to write “Three Circles” I wanted it to be a definitive guide to help employers comply with automatic enrolment regulation…As automatic enrolment continues to change it was important for me to release a 2nd edition to ensure it remained a definitive guide designed to help small and medium sized firms comply.

I’m just hoping that it stays relevant for a bit longer than a week this time!!
