The other day I was chatting to a friend and business colleague of mine. We found ourselves talking about travel and I asked him the question…

“You’ve traveled quite a bit…if you could live anywhere in the world, apart from of course London, where would you go?”

He thought for a moment and then decided…

“Chris…I’d choose Denmark”

“Why” I asked

“It’s difficult to explain” he said “But the people are awesome. They care about each other, are fantastically friendly and are incredibly good company.”

It’s interesting…

When you think about the greatest country in the world we might say Great Britain, or America based on their influence on the world. You might say China or India based on growth. You might say Qatar or Luxembourg based on gross domestic product per head.

There are a lot of factors which make Denmark a great country.

It ranks highly in a bunch of different factors. Low corruption. Great education and health care. High per capital incomes and low levels of inequality. High life expectancy and Adult Literacy.

However whilst there are many factors where Denmark have consistently high rankings there is one factor where Denmark is rated as the best in the world year in year out.

You see Denmark is consistently ranked as the happiest country in the world.

It might seem strange that a firm of financial planners are talking about the greatest country in the world not as the most wealthy, or the most productive but the happiest.

But actually we believe that happiness and freedom to do the things which make you most happy should be the focus with having both control of your money and clarity on what it can do for you being a major part of the puzzle.

We also believe that the Danes have got it right in a bunch of different ways. A focus on enjoying life, spending time with the people you love and being grateful just seems to me like an incredibly nice way to live.

As a business we spend our time delivering practical solutions to our clients. Solutions designed to ensure that if the unexpected were to occur their families would be protected and helping them save for their financial futures as well as helping them attract the right people to join their businesses.

However we believe these practical plans should be designed to provide the things which truly make our lives worthwhile.
